Juneteenth at Little River

We gathered by the cemetery of the enslaved people who worked on the Gooding plantation before and during the Civil War, and stopped to honor their memory as well as other African Americans who more recently have been the victims of violence. Afterwards, we walked to the turnpike where with signs, noisemakers, rhythm instruments, and our voices, we made a joyful noise to remind those who pass by that Juneteenth still matters, that it’s a day to be honored and celebrated!
