MLK Sunday with Guest Preacher

Today during our worship service the Rev. Marvin Silver will offer the sermon.

The Rev. Marvin M. Silver serves as Associate Conference Minister for Justice & Witness Ministries with the Central Atlantic Conference of the United Church of Christ. Serving the Eastern Region of DC, MD (stretching north to Gaithersburg and east to the Eastern Shore), and VA (south to Richmond and Chesterfield), he works to maintain a climate of pastoral care through guidance and support of clergy, local churches, and peer-to-peer pastoral support networks. Prior to joining the Conference, the Rev. Silver served as Pastor of Jubilee UCC (formerly Amistad St. Paul UCC) in Lanham MD. His commitment to justice has been demonstrated throughout his ministry in leading and organizing social justice campaigns as Policy Advocate with the UCC former Justice & Witness Ministries, as Senior Campaign Manager and Deputy Legislative & Policy Director with USAction (now called People’s Action), a national grassroots progressive advocacy organization, and as Outreach Director at Americans for Financial Reform. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Bowie State University, a Masters of Divinity from Howard University, and is a graduate of Harvard University Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute.
