Worship & Spirituality

Worship of God is at the heart of the Little River UCC community. The congregation comes together on Sunday mornings to renew its faith through prayer, receive inspiration through music, absorb the thought-provoking sermons , and share fellowship with friends and newcomers over light refreshments in the social hall following worship.

Worship Times
Worship times are 9:30 a.m. all year (except the Sunday after Christmas) and 11:00 a.m. from Labor Day through the end of May.

Children
Children are a priority in our faith community and are always welcome in worship. Care is available for infants and small children during all services. Church school for children age 3 through grade 12 meets most Sundays at 9:30 a.m. from September through May. Once a month all classes are suspended for Everyone in Worship at 9:30 a.m., when worship is planned specifically to serve all ages.

Music
Music
is very important to our worship. Our services are enhanced by a pipe-organ and choral music ranging from classical to contemporary. Two adult choirs, a youth choir, and a children’s choir share in leading worship. Special music during Advent and Lent are annual highlights.

Sacraments
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is observed monthly, normally on the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome to participate as the bread and juice are shared. Gluten-free bread is always provided. The Sacrament of Baptism for adults and children is observed during worship as requested and arranged with a pastor.

Communion is served at the 11:00 am service  every Sunday during Lent.

Labyrinth
Our labyrinth offers a very special opportunity for spiritual reflection, prayer, and meditation. Set in our wooded grove, it is a place apart from hectic lives.

Special Worship
Special worship offerings are scheduled throughout the year, such as healing services, Ember Evenings for reflection, and Lenten and Advent services.

Lenten Services in the period leading up to Easter include worship on Maundy Thursday at 8 p.m.; Good Friday at 6 p.m.; and Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. on Holy Saturday.
